Good questions deserve honest framing. Beyond the Known explores ideas across science, society, philosophy, technology, and fiction. Factual claims are sourced where appropriate, speculation is presented as speculation, and fiction is clearly distinguished from nonfiction.
Evidence is not imagination.
Explainers link to supporting sources for factual background. Essays present interpretations or arguments. Thought experiments explicitly grant an invented premise. Fiction is labeled fiction. These are different kinds of writing, not interchangeable standards of proof.
Sources should support the claim.
Where a source is used, the link appears alongside the relevant passage. A source may establish the background to an argument without endorsing the argument itself. We prefer original research, official explanations, and clearly attributed specialist references.
No borrowed authority.
This publication does not present itself as a medical, legal, financial, or scientific advisory service. An imagined memory change is not a model for treating a real person. A fictional technology is not a claim about a working product.
Editorial responsibility.
Every published piece is selected and reviewed under the Arin Vale editorial identity. Factual claims should be traceable to appropriate sources, interpretation and speculation should be clear from context, and fiction should remain distinct from factual reporting. Illustrations are creative or conceptual unless otherwise credited and should not be read as documentary evidence.
Creative collaboration.
AI tools may be used for brainstorming, research organization, drafting, editing, and conceptual imagery. Their role can differ across pieces. Editorial selection, factual checking where relevant, and responsibility for publication remain with Arin Vale. We do not claim every sentence is written without AI assistance.
Dates mean something.
The displayed date identifies when an opening piece was prepared for this edition. Significant future revisions should receive an updated date and an explanation of the correction. Sources and assumptions should be revisited before promoting factual pieces.
The novel is a separate work.
Worldbuilding essays do not establish canon. The standalone story sketch is not a manuscript excerpt. The upcoming novel remains untitled, and no release date or purchase availability has been announced.
